Agartala, January 15, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening livelihood opportunities for rural youth, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and Forvis Mazars LLP to conduct a comprehensive Skill Gap Study in Tripura.

The event was attended by the TRLM’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, Forvis Mazars LLP’s Team Leader Sanjay Bhardwaj, DDU-GKY’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shankharaj Roy, and State Mission Manager Prabir Ghosh.

The study aims to identify existing and emerging skill gaps among rural youth, with a special focus on the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) areas. Based on the findings, tailored skill development programmes will be designed to equip candidates with industry-relevant skills, followed by placement opportunities under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) 2.0.

Officials said the initiative is expected to play a crucial role in aligning local talent with market demand, thereby enhancing employability and sustainable livelihoods for rural and tribal youth. “The Skill Gap Study will help us design focused training interventions and ensure meaningful employment outcomes,” an official associated with the programme said.

In a major boost to the initiative, the Government has sanctioned ₹23 crore to TRLM under DDU-GKY 2.0 in December 2025. The fund will be utilised for skill training, capacity building and placement of eligible candidates across the state.
