National Road Safety Month 2026 was formally launched in Tamenglong on Thursday with an auto rally organised by the District Administration Tamenglong in collaboration with the District Transport Office (DTO).
The rally commenced from Haipou Jadonang Park and concluded at the Mini Stadium, Utopia. It was flagged off by Namthango Kamei, MCS, Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner. The launch programme was attended by Savio Daimai, MCS, Khumujam Nitanjoy, District Transport Officer, along with police personnel, DTO staff and other officials.
During the event, key road safety messages were emphasised, including wearing helmets, avoiding drinking and driving, refraining from mobile phone use while driving, obeying traffic signals, and checking both sides before crossing the road.
As part of the month-long observance, a series of awareness activities has been planned across the district. These include wall painting drives, public awareness campaigns, road safety skits, a special enforcement-cum-awareness drive, and a district-level painting competition at various locations in Tamenglong.
Prizes and acknowledgements for the activities conducted during National Road Safety Month will be distributed on Republic Day, January 26.
