Agartala, January 22, 2026: Tripura cricketer Manishankar Murasingh was felicitated in Agartala on Wednesday after becoming the first player from the state to feature in 100 Ranji Trophy matches. The ceremony, hosted by the Tripura Cricket Association, drew the presence of Chief Minister Manik Saha, former cricketers, sports officials and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Saha hailed Murasingh as “the pride of Tripura,” noting that no player from the state had previously crossed even the 40–50 match mark in the premier domestic tournament. He said the achievement was a landmark moment for Tripura cricket and would inspire the next generation of players.
The chief minister added that the felicitation coinciding with Tripura’s Statehood Day lent special significance to the occasion. He praised Murasingh’s career as a reflection of discipline, consistency and commitment—qualities the government seeks to instill in young sportspersons.
Saha also underlined ongoing initiatives to strengthen sports infrastructure across Tripura, with a focus on creating opportunities for children in cricket and other disciplines. “Our aim is holistic sports development so that athletes from Tripura can shine at national and international levels,” he said.
The Tripura Cricket Association lauded Murasingh’s contribution to the team and his role in enhancing the state’s presence in domestic cricket. The programme concluded with formal felicitations and best wishes for his future career.
