Agartala, January 23, 2026: Tripura has delivered an impressive performance at the Regional Level IndiaSkills Competition 2025-26, underscoring the State’s growing momentum in skill development. Held in Assam from January 19 to 22, the event saw Tripura fielding 28 candidates across 16 trades, with participants demonstrating exceptional technical acumen, discipline, and competitive spirit.
The competition, part of a multi-tiered national framework, begins at the district and state levels, progressing to regional contests where winners from the eight northeastern states vie for top honors. Gold and Silver medalists from this stage qualify for the National IndiaSkills Competition, with the ultimate goal of representing India at WorldSkills 2026 in Shanghai.
Tripura’s participation this year marked a significant leap in engagement, with registrations soaring from 55 in 2024 to an impressive 936 in 2025-26. Officials attribute this surge to increased awareness and outreach efforts aimed at empowering the State’s youth through vocational excellence.
Four candidates from Tripura have earned the distinction of qualifying for the national stage. Pritam Pal of Ranirbazar, West Tripura, clinched Gold in Automobile Technology, while Anurupa Debnath from Mohanpur, West Tripura, secured Gold in Mobile Application Development. Silver medals were awarded to Nilay Debnath of Manu Bazar, South Tripura, in Cloud Computing, and Deep Debnath of Bishalgarh, Sepahijala, in Electrical Installation.
Additionally, Rakhi Deb from Chawmanu, Dhalai, won Bronze in Beauty Therapy, and Sudeb Deb from Udaipur, Gomati, received the Medallion of Excellence in Electrical Installation.
In recognition of their achievements, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will award ₹75,000 to Gold medalists, ₹50,000 to Silver medalists, and ₹25,000 to Bronze winners. Complementing this, the Tripura Government will extend matching cash incentives under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa, along with ₹10,000 for Medallion of Excellence recipients.
The Director of Skill Development, in a press communiqué, lauded the collective efforts of trainees, trainers, mentors, and institutions that have contributed to this success. The State Government congratulated all awardees and extended best wishes to the national qualifiers, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening Tripura’s skill development ecosystem.
