A poppy destruction drive was carried out at the Shirong Hill Range under Phaibung Police Station in Senapati district by the Senapati District Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF). The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police (NH-2), who is also the Nodal Officer of the ANTF, with overall supervision from the Superintendent of Police, Senapati.

The joint team was led by the Officer-in-Charge of Maram Police Station and comprised personnel from Maram PS, Phaibung PS, F-36 and C-142 units of the CRPF, along with an Executive Magistrate. Officials from the Senapati Forest Division provided drone support for aerial reconnaissance during the operation.

During the drive, poppy cultivation spread over approximately 10 acres was destroyed, and three huts found at the site were burnt. A case has been registered at Phaibung Police Station in connection with the illegal cultivation.

The District ANTF reiterated its firm resolve to continue intensive anti-poppy operations and sustain the destruction drive to eliminate illicit poppy cultivation across Senapati district.
