Tripura Celebrates 77th Republic Day with Patriotic Fervour and Dignity

Agartala, January 26, 2026: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and solemnity across Tripura, with the main district-level parade held at BBI Ground in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. The official ceremony commenced at 9:00 AM, drawing participation from citizens, officials, and dignitaries.

Santana Chakma, Minister for OBC Welfare, Government of Tripura, unfurled the national flag and inspected the ceremonial parade. She was joined by North Tripura District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai, and senior officials from various administrative departments.

In her address, Minister Chakma emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, highlighting the need to foster self-reliance among women for the holistic development of society. Her speech resonated with the day’s theme of unity and progress.

Following the parade, awards were presented to the contingents securing first and second positions. The celebrations continued with a vibrant cultural programme, showcasing the region’s rich heritage and patriotic spirit.

In Agartala, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s state headquarters also marked the occasion with due reverence. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha led the celebrations, hoisting the national flag in the presence of BJP State President Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, and other party leaders. The gathering exchanged Republic Day greetings and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the ideals of the Constitution and work collectively for the nation’s progress.

At the State Secretariat, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath hoisted the national flag and extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Tripura. In a solemn tribute to the nation’s founding values, he paid floral homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Ghat and later offered respects at the Shaheed Smriti Soudha in Albert Ekka Park, Lichubagan.

Minister Nath paid glowing tribute to the valiant freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices continue to safeguard India’s sovereignty. “Their blood-written legacy empowers every citizen to stand tall with pride,” he said. He also reflected on Mahatma Gandhi’s lifelong dedication to non-violence and moral integrity, calling it a guiding light for the nation’s conscience.

The day’s events across Tripura were marked by a deep sense of patriotism and national unity, as citizens came together to honour the spirit of the Republic.
