Mizoram CM Meets UNDP India Resident Representative To Discuss Development Initiatives

Aizawl, Jan 27: Chief Minister Lalduhoma today met Angela Lusigi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in India, at his office. The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for UNDP’s various initiatives in Mizoram and encouraged the organisation to further expand its engagement in the State.

Welcoming Lusigi on her visit to Mizoram, the Chief Minister thanked UNDP for its continued support and contributions. He highlighted that three districts of Mizoram have featured among the top performers in the latest NITI Aayog Sustainable Development Index Report, and noted that Mizoram is known as a peaceful state with a low corruption rate.

He also shared the State Government’s vision of enabling Mizoram to contribute one per cent to India’s GDP by 2047 and requested UNDP to scale up and strengthen its initiatives in Mizoram to help realise this vision.

Angela Lusigi remarked that she found Mizoram to be a pleasant place and acknowledged the notable progress the State has made in recent years. She also outlined UNDP’s initiatives and priority areas to the Chief Minister and enquired about the State Government’s key priority sectors.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister; Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister; Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary, Planning Department; and other officials.
