Guwahati, Jan 28: The Assam cabinet on Tuesday approved the registration of Moran community members residing in Arunachal Pradesh at employment exchanges in Tinsukia district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. Individuals holding valid Permanent Residence Certificates (PRC) and OBC certificates issued by the Assam government can now register, aiming to enhance their employment opportunities through government recruitment drives.
In a related move, the cabinet approved reserving one post each in state civil and police services for the Chutia community under the OBC quota in the next five Combined Competitive Examinations to improve their socio-economic status.
The cabinet also cleared the “de-reservation” of parts of the Village Grazing Reserve (VGR) in Tiloibari Bongali and Tiloibari Nepali Gaon under Dibrugarh’s Moran revenue circle, enabling settlement for indigenous residents.
Other decisions include relaxing settlement premiums for tea garden workers in labour lines under town and peripheral areas, sanctioning a Rs 200.36 crore loan from NABARD for 27 projects, and extending the Mukhya Mantri LoK Sevak Arogya Yojana (MMLSAY) to elected representatives of Zila Parishad, Anchalik Panchayat, and Gaon Panchayat.
