Agartala, January 30, 2026: In a striking demonstration of resolve, speed, and operational clarity, the Assam Rifles translated leadership vision into decisive ground action within hours, delivering a crushing blow to narcotics networks in Tripura.

Barely hours after Deputy Inspector General Brigadier Nishant Chandel’s powerful address warning against the growing drug menace, Assam Rifles troops launched another highly successful anti-narcotics operation near General Area Kamalnagar and Bijoy Nagar, destroying illicit ganja cultivation worth approximately Rs 27 crore.

This latest operation, coming on the heels of the Rs 14.5 crore ganja plantation destruction at Boxanagar, takes the total value of narcotics neutralised in a single operational cycle to a staggering Rs 41.5 crore — a clear signal that Assam Rifles’ fight against drugs is not symbolic, but surgical and relentless.

At the PIB Bartalap programme, DIG Brigadier Chandel had emphatically stated that the war against drugs demands vigilance, responsibility, and collective action, stressing that enforcement agencies must lead from the front while society stands guard against narcotics poisoning the youth.

The force wasted no time proving that these were not just words.

Within hours, intelligence-based operations were executed on the ground, uprooting acres of illegal cannabis plantations and crippling supply chains that thrive on exploiting vulnerable regions. The near-simultaneous operations reflect seamless coordination, preparedness, and unwavering intent — hallmarks of Assam Rifles’ counter-narcotics strategy.

What makes the achievement more compelling is the perfect alignment between leadership messaging and operational outcome. The DIG’s call for decisive action against drugs found immediate resonance among troops, reinforcing the force’s zero-tolerance approach toward narcotics cultivation and trafficking.

Tripura, which has emerged as a repeated target for illegal ganja cultivation, is witnessing sustained pressure from Assam Rifles, ensuring that drug syndicates find neither space nor time to regroup.

As Assam Rifles continues to combine community awareness, leadership clarity, and hard kinetic action, the message is loud and unmistakable.
