Guwahati, Jan 30: Assam has been awarded the ‘Most Proactive State under RCS-UDAN (Priority Areas)’ at Wings India 2026, currently underway in Hyderabad, for its role in advancing regional air connectivity.
The award was presented to the state and received by Transport Commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh. The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the recognition acknowledges measures taken by the state government to strengthen aviation infrastructure and enhance connectivity under the Regional Connectivity Scheme–UDAN.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the award reflects the emphasis on expanding air connectivity to underserved and priority areas, noting that the UDAN initiative has played a key role in improving access and supporting development.
Wings India 2026, Asia’s largest civil aviation event, commenced on January 28 at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad and will continue for four days, featuring discussions and exhibitions highlighting India’s civil aviation sector and global industry trends.
