Manipur has earned fresh international recognition in Sepaktakraw as a player and a referee from the state departed for Japan to take part in the AICHI–NAGOYA 2026 Games Exercise (Test Event), to be held from January 30 to February 2, 2026, at Nagoya, Japan.

The Indian Sepaktakraw Federation has selected Waikhom Jiten Singh, President of the All Manipur Sepaktakraw Association (AMSTA), to officiate as a referee at the international test event. Manipur player S. Malemnganba has also been included in the Indian Sepaktakraw team.

The Indian contingent left New Delhi for Nagoya on Thursday night and is scheduled to return on February 3, 2026. The selected referee had reported in New Delhi on January 27 to complete official formalities.

Extending best wishes, AMSTA General Secretary Ch. Geskant said the selection of both a player and a referee for an international assignment is a proud moment for Manipur Sepaktakraw and reflects the state’s sustained contribution to the sport. He expressed confidence that they would uphold the honour of Manipur and India through their performance and professionalism in Japan.
