A major road accident in Srigouri near Badarpur in Assam’s Sribhumi district early on Saturday claimed one life and left several passengers critically injured.

According to police and local sources, a passenger Traveller vehicle heading towards Bazar Ghat collided head-on with a 12-wheeler dumper truck on the National Highway, causing the Traveller to overturn off the roadside. One person reportedly died on the spot, while several injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The dumper driver allegedly fled the scene. Residents expressed concern over the frequent movement of high-speed dumper trucks at night and have called for stricter enforcement to prevent similar incidents in the future.
