Agartala, January 31, 2026: The Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) has announced its decision to contest all 28 seats in the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections. The declaration came during the party’s 23rd Central Committee Conference, held on January 29–30 at Agartala Town Hall near Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
The newly elected leadership- President Naresh Jamatia, General Secretary Radhacharan Debbarma, and senior leader Pranab Debbarma said the strong delegate turnout signaled renewed energy for the movement. National leaders including Jiten Chaudhury, Brinda Karat, and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar also attended the deliberations.
A 25-member working committee was constituted, with six new faces, while the 137-member central committee was restructured. Addressing the media personnel here on Saturday, Radhacharan Debbarma declared the party was ready for a “fight inch by inch” against the BJP’s claim of sweeping all ADC seats.
Radhacharan at the conference accused the BJP-IPFT alliance of turning the ADC into a “hub of corruption and mismanagement.” Debbarma alleged that jobs were scarce, resources were being looted, and assets built during the Left era were being leased or mortgaged. He also criticized Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for failing to hold promised review meetings in Khumulwng.
The conference adopted a 10-point charter of demands, with leaders pledging to intensify agitation programs in the coming months. Debbarma further accused the BJP and RSS of imposing ideological beliefs on tribal communities, while reiterating the demand for Roman script for Kokborok.
In a fiery address, Naresh Jamatia branded the BJP-led government a “new fascist regime” and called for a united struggle against both the BJP and TIPRA Motha. “The main enemy is the BJP, but Motha too stands as an adversary. They are aiding extremist forces,” he charged, stressing that the battle ahead would be both political and ideological.
