Agartala, February 07, 2026: In a major step towards strengthening healthcare facilities in Tripura, GBP Hospital will begin offering round-the-clock MRI services starting February 9, 2026.
The decision was finalized during a Patient Welfare Committee meeting held on February 4, under the special initiative of the state’s Health and Family Welfare Department and with the active efforts of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha.
According to an official order signed by the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, the MRI service will remain operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.

Until now, MRI facilities at GBP Hospital were available only until 10 p.m. The new arrangement is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and make diagnostic services more accessible for patients traveling from distant areas.
To address the growing patient load and ease pressure on the existing machine, the Chief Minister has also directed the installation of an additional MRI machine at the hospital’s Super Specialty building. Work on this project is set to begin soon, ensuring faster and more efficient healthcare delivery for the public.
