Agartala, February 9, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to arrive in Tripura on February 20 for a one-day visit, party insiders revealed, marking a significant political development ahead of the elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Senior BJP leaders in the state indicated that while Shah’s official itinerary is yet to be confirmed, preparations are underway for his arrival. “We have learnt that the Union Home Minister will be in Tripura on February 20,” a source within the party said.
During his stay, Shah is likely to attend a government programme showcasing developmental initiatives led by the Centre in the state. He is also expected to hold a closed-door meeting with the BJP’s state leadership to discuss organisational strategies and campaign plans for the upcoming council polls.
The visit is being viewed as a morale booster for the BJP, particularly in tribal-dominated regions where the TTAADC elections carry considerable weight. Party functionaries believe Shah’s presence will energise grassroots workers and strengthen outreach efforts in the run-up to the crucial polls.
