Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Tuesday flagged off the Imphal–Kolkata–Guwahati–Mumbai SpiceJet air service at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, marking a significant boost to Manipur’s air connectivity.
The inaugural event was attended by a Member of Parliament, including MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, along with senior officials of SpiceJet. The Chief Minister said the introduction of the new air route would enhance connectivity between Manipur and major cities across the country, while also offering greater convenience to the travelling public.
Expressing gratitude, CM Yumnam Khemchand thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “visionary leadership,” stating that improved air connectivity would further strengthen the momentum towards Viksit Bharat and Viksit Manipur.
Officials noted that the new service is expected to facilitate easier movement of people, promote tourism, and support economic activities in the region.
