Agartala, February 12, 2026: In a landmark initiative aimed at transforming rural entrepreneurship in Tripura, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday between the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park to implement a Rs 10.60 crore project over a period of three years.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Rural Development Department Secretary Abhishek Singh, IAS. CEO of TRLM, Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, and CEO of IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, Dr. Vivek Kumar Rai, formalized the agreement at a programme held in Agartala.
Under the partnership, incubation institutions will be established across rural Tripura to identify and nurture individual and group enterprises, particularly women-led ventures. The initiative aims to create “Millionaire Didis” and “Crorepati Didis” by strengthening entrepreneurial capacities and scaling up viable businesses.
The project targets the promotion and expansion of over 150 women-led enterprises in the manufacturing and service sectors. It will focus on improving business models, facilitating enhanced access to credit, strengthening branding and marketing strategies, and building robust market linkages. The programme also seeks to generate local employment and establish a replicable incubation framework for implementation in other National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) states.
Officials described the collaboration as a major step toward sustainable, women-driven economic growth in the state, reinforcing TRLM’s commitment to empowering rural women through structured enterprise development and institutional support.
