Assam CM Distributes Seed Capital To 31,952 Women In Majuli, Inaugurates University Facilities

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday distributed ₹10,000 each under the Majuli Mahila Udyog Abhiyan (MMUA) to 31,952 women entrepreneurs in Majuli. The scheme has so far benefited 28,17,857 women across Assam, aiming to promote entrepreneurship and financial independence among women in the state.

On the same day, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new Academic Building and a Girls’ Hostel at Majuli University of Culture, constructed at a cost of nearly ₹51 crore. The three-storey academic block can accommodate 1,880 students and is equipped with modern classrooms, administrative offices, and technology-enabled facilities. The four-storey hostel provides safe accommodation for 178 female students.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to introduce Arts and Science courses, expressing confidence that the university will become a premier institution, further strengthening Assam’s academic and cultural landscape.
