Agartala, February 14, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that a fresh phase of development has begun in the state under the leadership of Narendra Modi, with the Centre and the state government working in close coordination to ensure that welfare schemes reach the last person in society.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while virtually laying the foundation stones of three key development projects in Udaipur. He said the projects would usher in new opportunities for infrastructure growth while also strengthening environmental protection, urbanisation, and economic progress in the region.
Expressing confidence in the country’s long-term vision, Dr. Saha said India is steadily moving towards the goal of becoming a fully developed nation by 2047 and called upon citizens to actively participate in this journey. “The present government believes in swift implementation of programmes and stands with the people in both happiness and sorrow,” he said.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s vision, Dr. Saha said the focus remains on the holistic development of the poor, farmers, women, and youth. “As an honest guardian of the nation, the Prime Minister has safeguarded the country by countering all kinds of conspiracies. Development projects worth nearly Rs 1,300 crore are currently underway in Tripura,” he added.
The Chief Minister said a paperless administrative system has been introduced from the Secretariat down to the Panchayat level. He also noted that Tripura has achieved the status of a fully literate state after Goa and Mizoram and has secured 347 national and regional awards.
Dr. Saha announced that the Vande Bharat Express would be launched soon to strengthen the transport network and that work on upgrading the Agartala–Udaipur road to four lanes would commence shortly. “Our aim is not just the development of Agartala, but balanced and equal development across the entire state,” he said.
He further announced plans to establish an Ayurvedic hospital at Tepania in Udaipur and said that currently 450 students are pursuing MBBS and 63 BDS courses in the state. Steps are also underway to set up a health university. “We are hopeful of attracting investments worth around Rs 15,000 crore in the coming days. The length of national highways in Tripura has increased to about 923 km from just 198 km earlier,” he added.
The programme was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLAs Abhishek Debroy, Rampada Jamatia and Jitendra Majumder, Udaipur Municipal Council Chairman Shital Chandra Majumder, TUDA Director Mihir Kanti Gupta, Gomati Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K, and other dignitaries.
