Agartala, February 19, 2026: Agartala is under heightened security as the Union Home Minister prepares to arrive in the state capital on February 20. Authorities have deployed additional forces at sensitive locations to ensure law and order during the high-profile visit, a senior Tripura government official confirmed.
The Home Minister will attend the Joint Regional Official Language Conference for Northern and Eastern Regions and is scheduled to stay overnight in Agartala. Later in the evening, he is expected to meet Chief Minister Manik Saha, senior BJP leaders, and alliance partners including the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) and the Tipra Motha Party.
In advance of the visit, an Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) meeting was held on February 18 at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and the Hapania International Fair Ground. The meeting reviewed security protocols, departmental coordination, and event management to guarantee smooth proceedings.
Senior civil and police officials, along with representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, participated in the exercise. Among them were West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Additional SP Dhruv Nath, SDPO Parmita Pandey, and Traffic Superintendent Kanta Jangir.
Officials examined route security, venue protection, traffic regulation, and emergency response measures. With multi-agency coordination and heightened vigilance, the administration aims to deliver a safe and incident-free visit for the Union Home Minister.
