Agartala, February 20, 2026: A 15-member delegation from Tripura’s Public Works Department (Drinking Water and Sanitation) has concluded a two-day exposure visit to Patna, examining the city’s sanitation and waste management systems. The programme, held on February 18–19, was coordinated by the Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development.

The team reviewed initiatives of the Patna Municipal Corporation, focusing on plastic waste disposal, faecal sludge management, and solid-liquid waste systems developed under the ODF Plus framework. Officials said the visit was designed to familiarise participants with operational models, monitoring mechanisms, and innovations that have strengthened urban cleanliness in the Bihar capital.

The programme opened with a detailed briefing at the municipal corporation headquarters, where civic officials outlined project designs, technical components, and oversight systems. Special attention was given to community engagement strategies and public awareness campaigns, described as vital to sustaining sanitation gains.

Field visits followed, with engineers touring the Beur Sewage Treatment Plant, the Integrated Command and Control Centre, and the Ganga Path riverfront development. At each site, the delegation interacted with on-ground officials to understand implementation challenges and replicable practices.

Authorities noted that the exercise forms part of broader inter-state knowledge exchanges aimed at strengthening urban sanitation frameworks. Insights gathered in Patna are expected to inform future initiatives in Tripura, particularly in scaling up structured waste management and enhancing community participation.
