Agartala, February 21, 2026: Transport, Food & Civil Supplies and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury held a courtesy meeting on Friday at the Tripura Secretariat with senior officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to discuss aviation services and airport operations in the state.

The AAI delegation included Gyan Batra, Regional Executive Director for India’s Northeast Region, newly appointed Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport Director Krishna Mohan Nehra, and former Airport Director K.C. Meena.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening air connectivity, expanding infrastructure, and enhancing passenger services at Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport — the primary aviation hub for Tripura and the wider northeastern region.

Minister Chowdhury emphasized the need for close collaboration between the state government and AAI to improve efficiency and service quality, highlighting aviation’s role in boosting Tripura’s economy and tourism potential. Plans for additional flight operations and expansion of airport facilities were also explored.

The meeting reaffirmed both the state government’s commitment and AAI’s support in advancing Tripura’s aviation sector, aligning with broader goals of regional connectivity and socio-economic development.
