Agartala, February 23, 2026: Tipra Motha Party (TMP) founder Pradyot Manikya Debbarma has strongly condemned the racial abuse faced by three women from Northeast India in Delhi, asserting that their patriotism should be honoured, not mocked.
Debbarma, in a social media post, highlighted the contribution of Arunachalis to national security. “It’s because of the patriotism of Arunachalis that not one Chinese soldier can enter our country, yet they have to be subjected to racism and ridicule. This not only hurts but humiliates the very essence of where our country is headed. Will see that these women are given due justice,” he wrote.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered at Malviya Nagar Police Station against two residents accused of racially abusing and intimidating the women tenants. The FIR cites multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 79, 351(2), 196, and 3(5).
The accused, identified as Harsh Singh and his wife Ruby Jain of Malviya Nagar, allegedly confronted the tenants on February 20 around 3:30 pm after dust from drilling work in the women’s flat fell into their apartment below. While no physical injuries were reported, the tenants complained of mental harassment and humiliation.
Police said further legal action will follow as the investigation progresses.
