A 19-year-old college student from Tripura was hospitalised in serious condition after her live-in partner allegedly subjected her to prolonged physical assault and abuse at a paying guest accommodation in Sector 69 of Gurugram, police said.

The accused, identified as Shivam (19), a resident of Narela in Delhi, was arrested on Thursday following the registration of an FIR at Badshahpur police station. Police have added charges of rape and assault, and the accused has been sent to judicial custody. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and the case is being closely monitored.

According to police, the victim’s mother, a police officer posted in Tripura, received a distress call from her daughter on February 16 around 10 pm. During the call, the student reportedly said she feared for her life and alleged she had been beaten and tortured for several days.

The mother alleged that the accused confined her daughter inside a room, assaulted her repeatedly, burned parts of her body using sanitiser, forced her to drink urine, and recorded nude videos. She further alleged that the accused established physical relations with the victim after befriending her online and promising marriage. The violence reportedly intensified after he suspected her of infidelity, leading to a severe altercation on February 19.

Police teams rescued the woman from the accommodation after receiving information from the family and initially shifted her to All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi for treatment. She was later moved to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors said her condition is now stable.

The victim’s family has demanded strict legal action against the accused. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
