Agartala, February 23, 2026: A committee will be constituted to examine the long-pending demand for an increase in the remuneration of teachers engaged in evaluating board examination answer sheets, announced Dr. Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury, President of the Tripura Secondary Education Board, while addressing media personnel here on Monday.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Chowdhury said the decision comes in response to repeated representations from teachers over the years. “Teachers have been demanding a revision of their remuneration for a long time. Keeping this in view, the Board has decided to form a committee which will examine all relevant aspects and submit its recommendations,” he stated, adding that the matter would be addressed with due seriousness.
On the conduct of the upcoming board examinations, the TBSE President informed that the Higher Secondary Examination will commence on February 25, while the Secondary Examination will begin from February 26. “All preparations have been completed. Necessary administrative and security arrangements are already in place to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a fair, smooth, and peaceful manner,” he said.
Dr. Chowdhury further emphasized that strict monitoring has been ensured in the storage and distribution of question papers to prevent any irregularities. “The Board has taken special care at every stage to maintain the sanctity of the examination process,” he added.
Clarifying an important aspect related to language, the TBSE President said that the question papers for the Kokborok examination will be printed in Bengali. However, he assured candidates that they will be free to write their answers in any script of their choice. “The evaluation of answer sheets will be done carefully and fairly, without any discrimination,” he asserted.
The announcement regarding the formation of the committee has raised expectations among teachers, who have been seeking a revision of evaluation honorarium in line with rising responsibilities and workload.
