A minor argument over dust caused during an air-conditioner repair in New Delhi allegedly spiralled into a racial attack on three women from Arunachal Pradesh, drawing sharp condemnation from Manipur MP Bimol Akoijam.
According to Bimola Akoijam, what began as a disagreement over dust from the AC repair work quickly escalated into verbal abuse, with the women reportedly subjected to racially derogatory remarks and insults targeting their identity and dignity.
Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) and launched an investigation into the incident.
Expressing serious concern, Akoijam said such racial attacks against people from the Northeast are not isolated incidents and called for strict and exemplary punishment against those responsible. He stressed the urgent need to address recurring instances of racial discrimination and ensure the safety and dignity of citizens from the region.
