Agartala, February 25, 2026: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, who arrived in Tripura on Tuesday, chaired a high-level review meeting in Khowai district to evaluate the progress of major development programmes underway in the region. During the visit, the Union Minister also paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Manik Saha.
The review meeting centred on the implementation of key schemes being executed by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Union Minister held in-depth discussions with district-level officials on the status of flagship initiatives related to housing, clean cooking fuel, drinking water supply, and improvements in primary and secondary education.
Officials also briefed the Minister on the progress of rural development programmes, the Kisan Credit Card scheme for farmers, solar rooftop installations under renewable energy initiatives, and ongoing waste treatment and management projects aimed at strengthening sanitation and environmental sustainability.

District Magistrate Rajat Pant, along with senior administrative officers, attended the meeting and apprised the Union Minister of ground-level implementation, existing challenges, and timelines for completion of various projects.
Later, in a social media post, Mohol recalled that the DoNER Ministry was established in 2001 during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to accelerate development across the ‘Ashta Lakshmi’ states of the Northeast. He noted that the ministry’s budget, which stood at around Rs 25,000 crore in its early years, has now crossed Rs 1 lakh crore, reflecting the Centre’s sustained focus on the region’s growth.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party-led government is committed to implementing long-term and impactful schemes for the holistic development of the northeastern states,” the Union Minister said.
According to official sources, the meeting underscored the need for timely delivery of public services and effective execution of projects to ensure maximum benefit to the people. Reacting to the visit, the Chief Minister wrote on social media, “Had a cordial and fruitful discussion on key issues such as development initiatives and public welfare. It was a pleasure to host him.”
