Guwahati, Feb 25; Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta personally met with members of the Northeast community on Wednesday following the racial abuse and intimidation of three women from Arunachal Pradesh in Malviya Nagar. During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought to reassure residents from the region of their safety and emphasized that the national capital has “no place for hatred, discrimination, or racial abuse.”
Addressing the emotional impact of the incident, CM Gupta stated, “I want to make it clear that Delhi is a city of diversity, respect, and mutual dignity. Such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.” She confirmed that the strictest legal action is being pursued against the miscreants and urged the public to refrain from politicizing the sensitive matter, noting that the “dignity, safety, and future of our young students must remain above all else.”
The Chief Minister also made a specific plea for the privacy of the victims, two sisters and an UPSC aspirant and their families, requesting that they be given the space and support needed during this difficult time. This meeting follows her administration’s one-year report card release, where she highlighted social inclusivity as a core pillar of her government’s progress.
