Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Launches BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ In Dhekiajuli

Dhekiajuli, Feb 28: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Assam BJP’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district on Saturday, kicking off a campaign to secure a third consecutive term in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Accompanied by state BJP president Dilip Saikia, Union Minister Pabitra Margherita, and other senior leaders, Sarma led the procession from an open van amid enthusiastic crowds lining the roads. Supporters greeted him with traditional scarves and flowers as he waved to cheering gatherings.

In his pre-launch address, Sarma recalled public support for Narendra Modi in 2014, the BJP’s first Assam government under Sarbananda Sonowal in 2016, and their 2021 victory. “We’ve worked tirelessly for the state’s development, creating a secure and progressive Assam today,” he said, acknowledging possible shortcomings but emphasizing commitment.He urged voters to back the BJP for continued progress. Earlier, Sarma offered prayers at the Gupteswari temple.

The Yatra covers Borsola, Tezpur, Naduar, and Rongapara constituencies on day one, aiming for 70-80 km daily and reaching nearly one lakh people. The first phase, ending March 9, spans 34 Assembly segments. ‘Jan Ashirwad Sabhas’ are planned for uncovered areas.

State Cabinet Minister Ashok Singhal serves as chief convenor, with Margherita and others as co-convenors. The initiative highlights the party’s vision, achievements, and goals ahead of polls.
