Assam’s Lovlina Borgohain To Represent India At Asian Boxing Championships

Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain from Assam and world champion Nikhat Zareen will spearhead India’s 20-member squad at the Asian Boxing Championships in Mongolia from March 28 to April 11.

The tournament offers direct qualification for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games later this year for finalists in approved weight categories, as per Boxing Federation of India (BFI) guidelines.

The team was selected following a month-long evaluation, which included performances at the January National Championships and the ongoing national camp in Patiala.

In the women’s segment, Borgohain will compete in the 75kg category alongside Boxam Elite International medallists Preeti Pawar (54kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), and Priya (60kg).

In the men’s lineup, Sachin Siwach, gold medallist at the World Boxing Cup and Boxam, is a key contender in the 60kg category.

Men’s Squad: Vishwanath Suresh (50kg), Jadumani Singh (55kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg), Aditya Pratap Yadav (65kg), Deepak (70kg), Akash (75kg), Ankush (80kg), Lokesh (85kg), Harsh Choudhary (90kg), Narender (90+kg).

Women’s Squad: Minakshi Hooda (48kg), Nikhat Zareen (51kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboriya (57kg), Priya (60kg), Ankushita Boro (65kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Lovlina Borgohain (75kg), Pooja Rani (80kg), Alfiya Pathan (80+kg).
