Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Calls For Protection Of Manipur’s Unique Wildlife On World Wildlife Day

Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Governor of Manipur, has called upon the people of the State to reaffirm their commitment to conserving Manipur’s rich biodiversity on the occasion of World Wildlife Day.

Highlighting the State’s extraordinary natural heritage, the Governor noted that Manipur’s forests, wetlands and hills are home to some of the world’s most unique and treasured wildlife species. He referred to the graceful Sangai, often described as the pride of Loktak Lake, as well as the vibrant Nongin, the State bird of Manipur. Taking to X, the Governor also mentioned the migratory Amur Falcon, which connects the State to global ecological journeys.

Emphasising the significance of conservation, the Governor stated that protecting wildlife is not merely about saving individual species, but about safeguarding the natural heritage that defines the identity of the people of Manipur.

The Governor urged citizens to take collective responsibility to preserve the State’s extraordinary biodiversity for future generations.

Calling for greater awareness and action, the Governor encouraged everyone to protect nature, preserve life and celebrate wildlife.
