Itanagar, Mar 9: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung announced on Monday that final results for 35 police department posts under the compassionate appointment scheme remain on hold due to directions from the Gauhati High Court’s Itanagar permanent bench.

Responding to Independent MLA Laisam Simai during the Assembly’s Question Hour, Natung explained that the recruitment process was completed, but results were withheld to comply with the court’s orders. He stressed that appointments follow the government’s 2022 office memorandum, with a 5% quota allocated in the police department.

“While several candidates were appointed in 2019, new Union Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines mandate qualifying assessments based on the post,” Natung said. Applicants must pass a physical efficiency test (PET), medical exam, document verification, and written test.

The hold stems from challenges by candidates who failed these tests. The Centre’s scheme, outlined by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), provides jobs to dependents of government employees who die in service or are medically retired limited to 5% of direct recruitment vacancies, typically Group ‘C’ posts, for immediate family financial relief.
