Amazon India has expanded its dedicated air cargo service, Amazon Air, with a new route connecting Guwahati and Kolkata to enhance logistics across Northeast India.
Since its launch in 2023, Amazon Air has operated freighter services linking Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. The new Guwahati-Kolkata route is expected to accelerate shipments to the region by up to five times, covering all seven Northeast states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura.
The inaugural flight to Guwahati was flagged off today from New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu.
According to Amazon India, the service will allow regional sellers to reach customers nationwide more efficiently, supporting faster fulfillment and business growth in the Northeast.
Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, IAS, said the route is expected to create employment opportunities, promote economic growth, and support the region’s development. Amazon India will also utilize additional fleet capacity from other domestic airlines to support this expansion.
