Silchar, March 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the Congress party of creating panic amid global conflicts and said the central government is working to protect citizens from international developments.
Speaking at a public rally in Assam’s Silchar, Modi criticized Congress for its historical approach to the Northeast, particularly the Barak Valley. He claimed that during the period around Independence, decisions by the party led to the region losing its access to the sea, affecting trade and development.
Modi said, “As the world grapples with wars, our government is focused on minimizing their effects on Indians. Congress, however, has failed as a responsible opposition and is instead sowing fear.” He added that the party lacks a vision for Assam or the nation and relies on spreading misinformation.
The Prime Minister highlighted Barak Valley’s past as an industrial hub and attributed its decline to decades of Congress governance. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party is now implementing initiatives to address the region’s development needs.
Modi also accused Congress of influencing Assam’s youth toward violence and terrorism, contrasting it with the BJP’s focus on creating opportunities. “Where Congress stops thinking, we start working prioritizing those left behind in development,” he stated.
