Agartala, March 14, 2026: Emphasizing the crucial role of young people in nation-building, Tripura’s Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nathsaid that active participation of youth in politics is essential for strengthening democracy and shaping the future of the country.

Addressing the state-level “Developed India Youth Parliament 2026” programme held at the Tripura Legislative Assembly in Agartala on Saturday, the minister described youth as the architects of the nation’s future and urged them to take responsibility in building a stronger India.

“Youth are the builders of the country of the future. Without the participation of honest and educated people in politics, democracy will weaken,” Nath said.

Highlighting the vision of transforming India into a global leader, he said that the country gained independence in 1947 and the target should be to make India the number one nation in the world by 2047. “There are only 22 years left. From now on, we must lay a strong foundation to build a united and better India,” he added.

The minister said his intention was not merely to deliver a speech but to inspire young minds. “I have not come here just to give speeches, but to ignite the fire of thought, courage and responsibility among the youth,” he remarked, noting that young people have historically played a vital role in the freedom struggle and social reforms.

Referring to present-day challenges, Nath said the real enemies of the nation are poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and inequality. However, he claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant progress has been made in reducing these problems.

“India is the largest democratic country in the world, but democracy does not end with voting. It means respecting different opinions, exercising conscience and having the courage to stand for the truth,” he said.

Calling upon youth to participate actively in public life, Nath said development is not limited to economic growth. “Providing laptops to village students, improving farmers’ financial conditions and ensuring safety for women are also parts of development,” he added.

He further noted that India’s biggest strength is its vast human resources, particularly its youth population. “However, the youth must be guided by morality, honesty, research-mindedness and human values,” he said, urging young people not to fear politics but to engage in shaping the nation’s future.

Speaker-in-charge Ram Prasad Pal, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy, Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhanshu Das, Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia and MLA Chitta Ranjan Debbarma were present at the programme.
