Gangtok, March 16: Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim, on Monday congratulated Prakash Bhattarai for being selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award 2025 in Nepali literature.
The Sahitya Akademi announced its annual awards for works in 24 recognised Indian languages. Bhattarai was selected for his essay titled “Nepali Paramparik Sanskriti Ra Sabhyata Ko Dukuti,” which examines aspects of Nepali traditional culture and civilisation.
In a post on social media, Tamang congratulated Bhattarai on the recognition and conveyed his best wishes.
The Chief Minister stated that Bhattarai’s work contributes to the preservation and promotion of Nepali language, literature, and culture.
Bhattarai currently serves as the vice chairman of the Institute for Transforming Sikkim (ITS). He is a resident of Timburbong in Soreng district of Sikkim.
