Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday released the second edition of the coffee table book “The Life of the Unsung Hero – Maj. Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing” during a ceremony held at Valley View.
Prior to the release, the Governor paid homage by laying a wreath at the memorial of Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing at the venue.
The ceremony was attended by John S. R. Khathing, senior Army officials including Major General Gaurav Sharma, IGAR (S), and Major General Subhankar Basu, GOC, 57th Mountain Division, along with other dignitaries and family members of the late officer.
As part of the programme, the Maj. Ralengnao ‘Bob’ Khathing Meritorious Awards were presented to outstanding students who excelled in the Class X and XII examinations.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla said the second edition of the book goes beyond narrating the life of an extraordinary son of Manipur, reflecting the enduring values of courage, integrity and selfless service essential for nation-building. He highlighted Maj. Khathing’s distinguished contributions as a soldier, administrator and diplomat.
Emphasising the relevance of his legacy, the Governor urged the younger generation to draw inspiration from Maj. Khathing’s discipline, humility and commitment to the greater good. He noted that the future of the nation depends on youth dedicated to unity, constructive dialogue and peace, expressing hope that the book would inspire them to contribute towards a peaceful, united and prosperous society.
