Guwahati, March 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to spearhead the BJP’s final campaign push in Assam with three major election rallies in early April. According to party sources, the Prime Minister is likely to address the public on April 1, 3, and 6, just days before the state heads to the polls in a single-phase election on April 9.

The rallies are expected to cover strategic regions across the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys as the BJP-led NDA seeks a third consecutive term under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. These high-profile visits follow the Prime Minister’s recent trips to the state in March, where he unveiled development projects worth over Rs 48,000 crore and urged voters to maintain the momentum of “Viksit Assam.”

The announcement of the Prime Minister’s schedule comes amid a flurry of political activity, including the recent induction of former Congress heavyweight Pradyut Bordoloi into the BJP. With the Model Code of Conduct already in effect, the ruling party is positioning these rallies as the cornerstone of its “double-engine growth” narrative, while the opposition Congress-led ‘Asom Sonmilito Morcha’ continues to challenge the single-phase polling schedule.

The Election Commission has set April 9 for voting across all 126 constituencies, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
