Agartala, March 20: Tripura Police have made significant progress in a high-profile explosives-related investigation, arresting a suspected militant linked to the outlawed TUANF group.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a patrol team from the 13th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles intercepted a man on the Damchhara–Kanchanpur road on Thursday. The suspect, identified as Vanlal Liana Reang alias Arnjoy Reang (48), was detained after his movements raised suspicion.

Police sources confirmed that incriminating materials connected to TUANF were recovered from his possession. Following preliminary interrogation, Reang was handed over to Vanghmun Police Station, where a case (No. 2025VGM007) is already registered against him.

Investigators revealed that the accused was allegedly planning sabotage operations targeting police vehicles, with the intention of carrying out explosions, attacking security personnel, and looting arms and ammunition. Digital evidence, including documents bearing the organization’s seal, was seized during the operation.

Authorities noted that earlier seizures in the same case included electric detonators and “Neogel-90” explosives.

Tripura Police stated that search operations have been intensified to track down other members of the network. The force reiterated its commitment to dismantling the militant infrastructure, ensuring public safety, and maintaining law and order across the state.
