The State Monitoring Cell of the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, Government of Manipur, on Friday organised a one-day media dialogue under the Jan-Samvaad (Public Outreach) IEC Programme for Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G-RAM-G) at Classic Hotel, North AOC, Imphal.

The programme aimed to create awareness and strengthen engagement with media on the provisions, impact, and outreach of the VB-G-RAM-G scheme. The mission, introduced under the Viksit Bharat-G-RAM-G Act, 2025, reforms the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005, and guarantees 125 days of wage employment annually to rural households.

Addressing the session, Commissioner (RD&PR) Sumant Singh highlighted that the scheme provides a legal entitlement to employment and focuses on sustainable rural infrastructure development, including water security, connectivity, livelihood assets, and climate-resilient works. He noted that the programme also integrates assets into a National Rural Infrastructure Stack for effective monitoring.

He further stated that Manipur received its highest-ever allocation for 60 days of employment under MGNREGA for 2025–26, adding that the dialogue was aimed at involving media in spreading awareness, particularly in urban areas.

The session featured a video presentation and detailed briefing on the scheme. Officials of the department and representatives from print and electronic media attended the programme.
