Guwahati, March 20: Leader of Opposition in the Assam Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, on Friday filed his nomination papers as the Congress candidate from Nazira constituency in Sivasagar district.
Saikia, seeking a fourth consecutive term from Nazira, a seat long considered his family’s stronghold was accompanied by Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi and other senior party leaders during the filing.

The Congress is contesting the upcoming April 9 state elections as part of a six-party alliance that includes Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad, CPI(M), CPI(ML)L and the All Party Hills Leaders Conference.
