AJP Chief Lurinjyoti Gogoi Files Nomination For Assam Assembly Polls

Dibrugarh, March 20: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Friday filed his nomination papers for the Khowang constituency in Dibrugarh district for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

Gogoi, who contested in the 2021 Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, is part of a six-party opposition alliance that includes the Congress, Raijor Dal, and CPI(M). The alliance is preparing for the polls scheduled to be held on April 9 across 126 constituencies.

Prior to filing his nomination, Gogoi led a procession through parts of Dibrugarh along with supporters and alliance members.

Speaking after filing the nomination, Gogoi said he aims to represent the concerns of the people of Khowang and the state. He also expressed confidence about his prospects in the constituency.

The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
