Agartala, March 21, 2026: Panic gripped the Netajinagar area under Bishalgarh following a late-night firing incident, allegedly carried out by notorious miscreant Ranbir and his associates after issuing threats on social media.

According to local sources, contractor Anup Saha alias Madhu had reportedly received a ransom demand of Rs 50 lakh over the phone. When the demand went unmet, the accused allegedly stormed his residence in Netajinagar—located barely 300 meters from the Vishalgarh police station—and opened fire late last night. Though the incident triggered widespread panic in the locality, no injuries have been reported so far.

Family members of the victim claimed that the accused are already absconding in several criminal cases. At the time of the attack, the miscreants reportedly arrived in a tom-tom, and the entire episode was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who allege a steady rise in criminal activities in Bishalgarh. Many claim that Ranbir has long been involved in crimes such as theft, robbery, and bombing, but effective action has not been taken against him. Despite public threats on social media and repeated violent acts, questions are now being raised about alleged administrative inaction.

A section of locals also expressed suspicion that such brazen acts—carried out openly with firearms—may not be possible without the backing of influential groups, leading to speculation about who might be shielding the accused.

The incident has created an atmosphere of fear across the area, with residents questioning whether the rule of law is being effectively enforced or if criminals are becoming increasingly emboldened.

Following the incident, locals have demanded a swift and impartial investigation, along with the immediate arrest and strict punishment of those involved. Police sources confirmed that an investigation has been initiated and CCTV footage is currently being examined to identify and apprehend the accused.
