Agartala, March 24, 2026: A review meeting was held to assess the initiatives undertaken under the Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH (FNHW) programme by Swasthya Sakhi volunteers of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission and the supporting administrative machinery at block and district levels.
The meeting was chaired by Tarit Kanti Chakma, Chief Executive Officer of TRLM, in the presence of senior officials including the Deputy CEO, Chief Operating Officer, State Mission Manager and other functionaries.
During the meeting, officials reviewed findings of a study undertaken by TRLM to oversee the implementation and impact of various FNHW interventions being carried out through Swasthya Sakhi volunteers in rural areas.
Swasthya Sakhi didis, functioning as community health volunteers under TRLM, play a significant role in promoting health awareness, sanitation and hygiene across villages in the state. Their activities include organising health camps, nutrition awareness drives and community outreach programmes in remote areas.
The volunteers have also been actively involved in campaigns against vector-borne diseases such as malaria, particularly in districts like Dhalai district, besides conducting awareness programmes on menstrual hygiene management and maternal and child health.
Officials said Swasthya Sakhi members have been contributing to nutrition and wellness campaigns by organising workshops on healthy dietary practices, including nutrition support for pregnant women and infant feeding awareness.
Many of the volunteers are also associated with self-help groups under livelihood initiatives such as the Lakhpati Didi programme, enabling them to strengthen both community health outreach and household income generation.
The meeting also discussed ways to further improve coordination between field-level volunteers and block and district administrations for effective delivery of health and nutrition services across rural Tripura.
