The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur has expressed appreciation to Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh for initiating a dialogue process aimed at restoring peace in the state.

In a statement, the Federation highlighted a key meeting held on March 21 in Guwahati with leaders of the Kuki Zo Council (KZC), describing it as a historic first engagement after nearly three years of prolonged conflict. The organisation termed the development a positive step towards reconciliation and mutual understanding among communities.

FOCS said the initiative reflects a strong commitment to rebuilding trust, fostering inclusive dialogue, and restoring normalcy in Manipur. It expressed hope that such efforts would strengthen unity across all sections of society.

The Federation also urged the government to prioritise the issues faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs), calling for their early resettlement in their respective homes with ensured safety, dignity, and well-being.
Emphasising the need to preserve the “Idea of Manipur” rooted in shared heritage, emotional unity, and territorial integrity, FOCS stressed that rebuilding trust and promoting harmony remain crucial at this juncture.

It further expressed hope that the next round of talks would be convened soon and hosted in Imphal as a gesture of goodwill and collective commitment to peace.

FOCS reaffirmed its optimism that continued engagement and cooperation would lead to a peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Manipur.
