Agartala, March 26, 2026: Dharmanagar is preparing for a key by-election to the Tripura Legislative Assembly, scheduled for April 9, 2026.

The Election Commission has announced that government employees on poll duty will cast their postal ballots at Bir Bikram Institution, Dharmanagar, on April 3 and 4.

The by-election was necessitated following the death of Biswa Bandhu Sen, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, in February. With scrutiny of nominations complete, candidates have until March 26 to withdraw their names.

Counting of votes is slated for May 4, with the entire election process expected to conclude before May 6. Political parties are now set to intensify their campaigns as the formal election schedule advances under the gazette notification.
