Agartala, March 27, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday asserted that Kerala should follow Tripura’s example in overcoming corruption, stating that the people of the southern state must rise against what he termed as “misrule” and embrace development-oriented governance.
Addressing an election rally in support of BJP candidate Prashant Malabhayal in Kerala’s Kalpetta assembly constituency, Dr. Saha said that just as Tripura emerged from decades of Left rule, Kerala too has the potential to usher in political change.
He emphasized that “this is the golden time to replace the politics of division with the politics of development” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recalling Tripura’s political transformation, the Chief Minister said the state had once witnessed uninterrupted Left rule for 35 years. “What you are facing today, we have also faced. But we overcame it, and now Kerala must do the same,” he said, urging voters not to fear the ruling establishment.
Dr. Saha highlighted the BJP’s organisational efforts in Tripura ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections, including grassroots mobilisation and extensive membership drives. He noted that the party, along with its ally IPFT, secured a decisive victory by winning 44 out of 60 seats, marking a historic political shift.
He further claimed that the BJP government in Tripura has delivered on its promises by prioritising development across sectors, including infrastructure, housing, employment, and welfare initiatives, particularly in tribal areas. He also pointed to improvements in women’s safety and connectivity in remote regions.
Launching a sharp attack on Kerala’s ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), Dr. Saha alleged that both alliances have “turned Kerala into a cycle of institutional corruption,” accusing them of alternating power while neglecting public welfare.
He also criticised the handling of religious institutions in Kerala, asserting that the BJP is committed to protecting India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
“The NDA stands for clean governance, accountability, and inclusive growth. Every citizen deserves equal opportunity without discrimination,” he said, adding that the BJP’s vision for Kerala aligns with a broader goal of building a developed and prosperous India.
