The Education Department has issued the Meghalaya Registration of Private Coaching Centre Rules, 2026, mandating all private coaching institutes to register with the state government. The notification (No. EDN.CC/26/2024/440) was released on March 12, 2026.

The rules seek to bring both online and offline coaching centres under a unified regulatory framework across Meghalaya.

As per the provisions, coaching institutes must implement measures aimed at student welfare, including safety protocols and structured grievance redressal systems for students and parents.

The regulations also emphasise transparency and accountability in the functioning of coaching centres to ensure a secure environment for learners.

Following the state-wide notification, authorities have directed all private coaching centres operating in East Khasi Hills district to complete their registration with the Education Department at the earliest to regularise their operations.
