In a move to strengthen access to safe drinking water in Meghalaya, the state government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Jal Jeevan Mission on Friday. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Union Minister C. R. Patil.
Chief Minister Sangma stated that the Meghalaya government is committed to providing safe and sustainable drinking water to every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
Union Minister Patil emphasized the importance of extending drinking water services to all regions, including remote areas, as part of efforts toward a developed India.
Under the agreement, the Centre will release funds for water supply schemes, with a focus on sustainability and efficient service delivery.
