Guwahati, Mar 27: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in Guwahati on Saturday evening to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates ahead of Assam’s assembly elections.
Shah will lead a roadshow for Guwahati Central candidate Vijay Gupta, starting from Arya Vidyapeeth Playground and covering major areas of the constituency. He will later meet the party’s state office bearers at a city hotel.
On Sunday, he will visit Sonitpur district to campaign for minister Ashok Singhal at the Dhekiajuli Tea Estate football field, followed by a stop in Tihu, Nalbari district, to support minister Chandramohan Patowary at Chamata Higher Secondary School field, concluding his two-day trip.
Shah is scheduled to return on April 2 for further campaigning in Barak Valley, backing minister Krishnendu Paul at Lalmati in Sribhumi district and former MP Rajdeep Roy at the District Sports Association Playground in Silchar.
Assam’s 126-member assembly polls are scheduled for April 9, with counting of votes on May 4.
